HOT Season Champs Crowned 9/26/2008

ELM MOTT—Season champions were determined in all classes during the final race of the 2008 point season Friday night at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway.

P.J. Egbert from Copperas Cove claimed the feature win along with the championship in the IMCA modified class.

Keith White from Academy topped a field of 31 cars for the feature win and the season championship in the IMCA SportMod class.

Axtell driver, Shannon Dulock, also picked up both the feature win and the season championship in the IMCA hobby stock class.

Mark Geurin from Whitney took home the winner’s trophy in the street stock feature, but fourth place finisher, Jason Gauntt from Elm Mott, won the street stock championship.

Melvin Kemp Jr. from Waco won the pure stock feature. Season champ for this class is Jeffrey Shepperd from Waco.

The team of Heath Zucha and J.J. Jenkins won the final cruiser feature of the point season. Jeff Woodruff from Elm Mott finished third but earned the class championship.

Dillon Payne from Hillsboro took the win in the junior mini stock feature. Garret Rawls from China Spring finished second in the race but first in points to take the championship.

Owners, pit crew members, mechanics, wives, and girlfriends had a chance to test their driving skills in the Owners’/Mechanics’ and Powder Puff races. Owners’/Mechanics’ winners were: Junior Mini Stock – Jeremy Oliver; Cruiser – James Thatcher; Pure Stock – Terry Kenan; Street Stock – Steve Barton; IMCA Hobby Stock – Joey Foote; IMCA SportMod – Jonathan Beard; IMCA Modified – B.J. Dulock. Powder Puff winners were: Cruiser – J.J. Jenkins; Pure Stock – Dena Holder; Street Stock – Ginger Geurin; Hobby & Junior Mini Stock – Jana Payne.
