Greenbrier Arkansas’ Jack Sullivan wasn’t planning on a trip to Texas this weekend, but when the race he had scheduled rained out, the team headed west. After 40-laps Sullivan found himself in the prestigious TMS Victory Lane, and $3,500 richer. Sullivan started on the pole and led every lap, but it wasn’t all that easy.

Chasing Sullivan throughout most of the race was yet another pro, Billy Moyer. Moyer caught Sullivan in traffic for the final few circuits, but could get no closer than Sullivan’s rear bumper as the Arkansas duo finished one-two to sweep the local SUPR stars. Continue reading »

Ft. Worth, Tx.,(Feb. 27Th, 2010) The 4/10th mile, semi-banked dirt track at Texas Motor Speedway completed it’s annual Texas Dirt Track Championship events Saturday night with championship races in all classes. The SUPR Late Models headlined the night with 55 Late Models signing in, including several pro touring invaders from Arkansas. Final qualifiers were run in the Modified and Limited Modifieds to fill each of their fields for the three big main events capping off the night. Continue reading »

Texas World Dirt Track Championship @ TMS Dirt Track, 2/26-27/10

FT. Worth, Tx.,(Feb. 26Th, 2010) The 4/10 mile, semi-banked dirt trak at Texas Motor Speedway played host to the annual Texas World Dirt Championships featuring the SUPR Late Models, Modifieds and Limited. Big name drivers from all over the midwest and mid south signed in with eight states represented.

National champions in both the IMCA and USMTS sanctions, plus several Rookie of the year award winners filled the Modified ranks. In the Limited Modifieds both IMCA Southern Sportmod titlists highlighted their field. Continue reading »

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 21) – After a big win on Saturday night, Chris Dawson capped off the Icebreaker weekend with his second visit to Abilene Speedway’s victory lane.

Dawson jumped into the lead at the start and never looked back as he went wire to wire in topping Sunday’s IMCA Modified main. Dawson was chased by Charles Brewer early, then Brian Flowers in the latter stages, but after three late cautions took the checkers by several car lengths. Continue reading »

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 20) – Night two IMCA Modified honors at Abilene Speedway’s Icebreaker special belonged to Chris Dawson.

Dawson got inside and passed early leader Chris Elliott on lap 13, then inched away to grab the $500 victory.

Jeremy Zorn took second away from Elliott and held off hard charging Keith White on the final circuit to keep the hard earned spot. Continue reading »

BAYTOWN, Texas (Feb. 20) – Jason Hughes was in a class by himself in 2009, winning ten main events en route to claiming his second straight USMTS Southern Series crown.

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 19) – Monte Bolton was the class of the IMCA Modified field on the first night of Abilene Speedway’s season opening Ice Breaker special.

Bolton worked his way up from row three, taking over the top spot near midway from early leader and coinci­dentally his car owner Tommy Fain. Bolton had to hold off the charge of David Elliott after a restart to snag the $500 victory. Continue reading »

BAYTOWN, Texas (Feb. 19) – Jeremy Payne powered his way into victory lane Friday night at the Houston Raceway Park, holding off two-time defending USMTS Southern Series champion Jason Hughes and pocketing $3,000 in the process.

Payne started fourth on the grid and quickly moved into the second spot behind Darrell Nelson, who wrestled the lead away from polesitter Shane Killingsworth as the field crossed beneath the flagstand to complete the first lap. Continue reading »

BAYTOWN, Texas – While Kelly Shryock was counting the $2,000 he earned for winning the USMTS Southern Series main event on Thursday night, it was equally satisfying to the nine-time USMTS National Champion what he was not counting.

BAYTOWN, Texas (Feb. 17) – The USMTS Southern Series is set to kick off the 2010 racing season with an earlier start date than ever this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-20, at the Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas, for the 3rd Annual Texas Winter Nationals presented by Ed Rinehart for County Commissioner.
