Kilgore, TX-March 12, 2010-Craig Dollansky had been fast right out of the box in 2010, but had been plagued with bad luck in nearly every one of the first five World of Outlaws events of the season. He put all of that behind him on Friday night at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, turning in a very strong performance from start to finish en route to picking up his first World of Outlaws victory of the season.

For Dollansky, the $10,000 win over 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser and current series point leader Joey Saldana, was the 32nd of his World of Outlaws career. It was his second career victory in Texas and his first in the state since 2001.

“This is a great way to get this monkey that has been on our back off it,” said Dollansky. “This is a great team effort and we had to work for it. We started in the fourth row of the dash and when you can win races that way, it shows you have a strong team.”

Dollansky used a strong restart on the 19th lap in the Big Game Treestands Maxim to dive under Jac Haudenschild in turns one and two as Haudenschild bounced through a couple of holes and nearly got upside down, somehow keeping the car going and getting it back on all fours, though he lost six spots in the process.

Dollansky then opened up a comfortable lead in open track before a yellow flag bunched the field up. He withstood two double file restarts in the late going, which he chose the low line each time with Kinser lined up to his outside. A single file restart with five laps to go gave Kinser one final shot at Dollansky, but the native of Elk River, Minnesota was too strong and wound up winning by about a second and a half.

“Obviously those are great race cars and we had to deal with strong cars all night long,” Dollansky said. “Steve (Kinser) has definitely been strong and Joey (Saldana) coming from 17th to third, that’s a great run for his team. Thanks to everyone that supports us and digs deep to make this happen, especially my wife Julie who is back home in Minnesota.”

Dollansky began Friday night by turning in the second quickest lap in time trials. He followed that up with a solid third-place finish in the second heat race to pick up a spot in the dash, where he charged from seventh to third to earn a second row starting spot in the 30-lap main event.

“I’m fortunate to have some great people behind me, starting with Tod Quiring,” said Dollansky. “I’m so happy to join with him as our car owner and Big Game Treestands, along with the great sponsors we have in Karavan Trailers and Aggressive Hydraulics. It’s always a team effort when you win races and hopefully the fans enjoyed the race tonight. There was a lot going on there, and I’m just glad to bring home a win.”

Kinser ended up second in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim to earn his fifth Top-Five and sixth Top-10 finish of 2010 and also move up to second in the championship standings, just seven markers behind Joey Saldana as he chases his record 21st title. Kinser tried everything he could on the late restarts, but could not quite get a run on Dollansky.

“I had to hang on and not hit those holes coming off (turn) four,” shared Kinser. “Craig (Dollansky) was able to pick it back up pretty good. I might have tried to get a run on him, but he blocked the bottom and he was a little faster than us in the front. To come home second after starting way back in the dash isn’t too bad. We missed a couple of wrecks and have been running pretty good. We just need to move up a spot or two.”

Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader, who was victorious last weekend in California, powered his way through the field to come from the 17th starting spot to finish third in the Budweiser Maxim.

“It was a great night,” Saldana said. “That is definitely the kind of night that you have to have when you start out having a bad night. We had a really good car, we just started really far back. We’ll go to Houston and try to get two spots more.”

The race began with Paul McMahan jumping to an early lead from the pole, with Jac Haudenschild in second, though the first caution of the night flew on the opening lap for an incident involving Donny Schatz and Terry McCarl. On the complete restart, McMahan again led with Dollansky battling Haudenschild for second.

Haudenschild moved into the lead on the ninth lap diving under McMahan in turn one and quickly put some distance between the pair, with Dollansky moving into the runner-up spot on the next circuit. Haudenschild was strong in lapped traffic, though a caution on the 19th lap set up a double file restart with him choosing the outside line and Dollansky lining up down low.

Jason Meyers had a consistent night finishing fourth in the GLR Investments KPC to earn his fifth Top-Five finish of the season. He has finished sixth or better in all six races in 2010 and is just nine points behind Joey Saldana as he chases his first World of Outlaws title.

Jason Sides picked up his third Top-Five finish of the season coming home fifth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim, which moved him up to fourth in the series championship standings after Donny Schatz finished 14th.

Paul McMahan ended up sixth in the Great Clips Maxim after leading the first eight laps, to score his best finish of the season and his best since joining Kasey Kahne Racing filling in for the injured Cody Darrah.

Jac Haudenschild finished seventh in the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX. Haudenschild, who led 10 laps crossed the line in fifth, but was docked two positions at the finish by way of World of Outlaws rules for passing a car before the restart cone on the front straightaway on the final restart of the night, which was a single file restart due to consecutive yellow flags flying before a lap was completed on the double file restart. Kraig Kinser was eighth in the Quaker State Maxim, with Tim Kaeding ninth piloting the DTR Transport KPC. Danny Lasoski rounded out the Top-10 in the Casey’s General Stores JEI.

The World of Outlaws return to action on Saturday, March 13 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown for The Texas Shootout to wrap up the Texas Two-Step Weekend.

Barberville, FL- February 7, 2010-Heading into the 2010 season, 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser said that he felt better than he had in two or three years, after having off-season surgery to fix a bulging disc in his neck. He started the season off very strong and was in contention for wins in each of the first three races of the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by University of Northwestern Ohio at Volusia Speedway. Kinser sealed the deal on Sunday night, picking up his first win of the season and his first victory since joining Tony Stewart Racing.

Kinser battled Tim Kaeding for most of the 30-lap contest and had Joey Saldana challenging him in the late going. For the Hall of Famer, it was his third career World of Outlaws A-Feature win at Volusia Speedway Park and his fifth overall triumph at the half-mile. Kinser now has 553 career A-Feature wins with the World of Outlaws.

“It feels good to get the first win of the year early on,” Kinser said. “The car got better as the race went on and I had to let it come to me. I was able to run low and also up top. I’m just glad to be in Victory Lane. Thats what we want to do, win races with this car.”

Kinser lined up second in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim and took the lead for the first time on the 12th lap from Tim Kaeding in traffic. Kaeding took the top spot back on the 16th lap using the high side of turn four. Just two laps later, Kinser was able to dive under Kaeding in turn one to take the lead and would pace the field for the rest of the way. On the second and final double file restart of the night, Kinser had Joey Saldana to contend with, who was using the extreme high side of the track to get a run on the leader. Kinser used strong restarts each time to hold down the top spot.

“The car was good on the restarts,” shard the native of Bloomington, Ind. “We have been trying some different things here lately and I think we found a few that seem to work.”

Kinser had a very strong week at the DIRTcar Nationals, finishing fourth or better in all four events he competed in, with three of those being podium runs. He leaves the Sunshine State second in points, just three markers behind his teammate Donny Schatz as he chases his record 21st series title.

“We had a pretty good week here and it was good to get back to the track and racing again,” noted Kinser. “We still have some work to do and we’ll go back to the shop and keep plugging away. This is a pretty good start to the year and we have plenty of racing left.”

Joey Saldana powered his way from the eighth starting spot to a runner-up finish in the Budweiser Maxim. He tracked Kinser down late in the race and got along side of him a couple of times on the 23rd and 24th laps, but was not able to make a pass. Saldana was up to third just seven laps into the race, passing Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky and Jason Sides along the way.

“We had a very good car tonight and it’s a good run to finish second,” Saldana said. “I am disappointed though, because I feel like we had a better car than he did I was able to track him down a couple of times and just about had him passed once and feel like we should have won this race. We’ll keep working hard and go from here.”

Saldana, who finished first or second in all four races at Volusia, earned the overall DIRTcar Nationals championship for his strong performance over the course of the week, which brought drivers from across the country to the half-mile. He is currently tied with Kinser for the second spot in points as he chases his first series championship.

“It does feel good to win the overall title with all of the strong cars that were here,” stated the second generation driver. “We started eighth a couple of times and fifth and were able to pass very strong cars. We are doing the right things and if we keep at it, we’ll get the wins.”

Danny Lasoski passed more cars than any other driver on Sunday night. The 2001 series champion lined up 14th and wound up third in the Caseys General Stores JEI to earn the KSE Hard Charger Award. On the double file restart on the 15th lap, he powered his way from eighth to fifth as he marched toward the front of the field.

“I’m very happy for this entire team,” Lasoski said. “We didn’t quite start the week how we wanted and to finish on a strong note like this is great. Barry (Jackson), Pete (Stephens) and Cody (Jacobs) worked very hard all week and certainly deserved a strong finish like this.”

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending series champion, who won on Saturday night came home fourth in the Armor All J&J and left the Sunshine State as the series championship point leader as he chases his fifth consecutive title.

Tim Kaeding led 13 laps aboard the DTR Transport KPC and ended up fifth. Jason Meyers was sixth in the GLR Investments KPC, with Craig Dollansky seventh aboard the Big Game Treestands Maxim. Terry McCarl was eighth also in the Big Game Treestands Maxim. Jason Sides set fast time for the second consecutive night and wound up ninth piloting the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Paul McMahan rounded out the Top-10 in the Indy Race Parts Eagle.

Click here for more photos from Volusia Speedway Park

Barberville, FL-February 6, 2010-Donny Schatz wrapped up 2009 standing on top of the podium after claiming his fourth consecutive World of Outlaws title, and he began the 2010 season on top again taking the win on Saturday night in the season opening 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by University of Northwestern Ohio at Volusia Speedway Park.

Schatz lined up third in the Armor All J&J and quickly moved into second and then battled Tim Shaffer and led the first lap, before the latter retook the top spot on the second circuit. Schatz tracked Shaffer back down in lapped traffic and drove under him on the 12th lap in turn one to take the lead. He would lead the remainder of the 30-lapper, including after two double file restarts to score the win over Joey Saldana and Steve Kinser.

“That’s the way to start, thats awesome,” said Schatz. “Everyone has their cars stuck so hard that it puts it more on the drivers and that’s what I like to see. I’m glad to get the win. Normally I don’t run well on the top when its fast, but I could go all over. The guys have been working pretty hard and we have been playing since we got to Ocala. We learned a lot of things and I think we have five or six nights ahead of everyone, hopefully.”

For Schatz, the $10,000 victory was his fourth World of Outlaws A-Feature win at Volusia Speedway Park and his ninth career victory at the track. He has claimed the season opener in three of the four years. The North Dakota native has finished eighth or better in eight straight events with the series at the half-mile.

“This place is so much different than it used to be,” explained Schatz. “It used to have sand on it and now it has more clay and it changed the surface a little bit. It’s great to see the races when you get two grooves and you can run the bottom and the top. That is all you can ask for in a race track.”

Saldana, who won earlier in the week in the DIRTcar Nationals in an event under the All Star Circuit of Champions banner, finished second aboard the Budweiser Maxim on Saturday night to earn his third straight podium at the half-mile. He lined up eighth and steadily worked his way to the front.

“We’ve had a good car these last three races and the cool part is that we have been passing cars to get to first and second,” shared Saldana. “We’re doing everything right. We’re learning our race cars with these new tires. We’ll come back tomorrow and try to get a win.”

Schatz battled Jason Meyers early in the race while Shaffer opened a slight lead before the pair closed back in on the leader in lapped traffic 10 laps into the main event. After Schatz took the lead from Shaffer, Meyers closed in and began to battle for the runner-up spot with Saldana in the mix as well.

The first caution of the season flew on the 15th lap leading to the first double file restart of the year. Schatz chose the inside line for the restart and used a strong start to lead the field into turn one, with Saldana nearly taking the second spot from Shaffer.

Meyers moved into second on lap-18 and was closing on Schatz when the caution flew on the very next circuit. On the restart, Schatz again chose the inside lane and opened a couple of car length lead while Saldana powered his way around the top to come from fourth to second.

Schatz continued to pull away as he entered lapped traffic with six laps to go. At the same time, Steve Kinser and Meyer battled for third, with the former eventually taking the final spot on the podium. Schatz negotiated traffic down the stretch to score the 101st A-Feature win of his World of Outlaws career.

In his first World of Outlaws race for Tony Stewart Racing, 20-time series champion Steve Kinser, finished third in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim on Saturday night. He fell back to sixth early in the race and began to work his way back up after that, including battling his son Kraig for a number of laps.

“We went a little bit overboard on the set-up,” shared the Hall of Famer. “It’s a little different car than we normally run so we’re playing with it a little bit. I can’t complain, but I’m still a little bit disappointed.”

Jason Meyers finished fourth in the GLR Investments KPC to earn his seventh consecutive Top-10 finish in a World of Outlaws event at Volusia Speedway Park. Tim Shaffer wound up leading a total of 10 laps aboard the Kistler Engines J&J and came home fifth.

Kraig Kinser was sixth in his return to his father’s team aboard the Quaker State Maxim. Lucas Wolfe came all the way from the 22nd starting spot to finish seventh in the Allebach Racing Maxim. Lance Dewease was eighth in the Advance Development Systems J&J, with Jason Sides ninth aboard the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Mark Smith rounded out the Top-10 in the Brickers French Fries Mach 1.

Saldana, who led the World of Outlaws with 20 A-Feature wins last season, is the current point leader in the battle for the overall DIRTcar Nationals titles, which he has come close to winning a couple of times in the past. Steve Kinser is currently second in event points, with Craig Dollansky third, Donny Schatz fourth and Jason Meyers fifth.

“We just have to keep doing what we are doing,” said Saldana. “If we keep running how we are, we’re bound to win a race. It may not be tomorrow, but if you start eighth and run second, you are definitely making progress all night and are doing the right things. I know we worked our way up there and back and then up there again racing some real tough competitors. It’s been a great performance for this team all three nights.”

The World of Outlaws wrap up the sprint car portion of the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals by University of Northwestern Ohio on Sunday night at Volusia Speedway Park.

DIRTCAR NATIONALS SATURDAY NOTES

FILLING IN: Brad Sweet filled in for Cody Darrah in the No 91 Great Clips Maxim for Kasey Kahne Racing on Saturday night. Darrah suffered a broken leg earlier in the day in a traffic accident that will require surgery.

FAST QUALIFIER: Jason Sides paced the 37 cars that took time with an AMB i.t. timed lap around the semi-banked half-mile oval at 13.691 seconds at 131.473 mph. For his qualifying effort, Sides earned five bonus points. The next four fastest qualifiers also earned bonus points, including: Joey Saldana (4), Donny Schatz (3), Steve Kinser (2) and Kraig Kinser (1).

DIRTCAR NATIONALS QUALIFYING WINNERS: Kraig Kinser, Joey Saldana, Fred Rahmer and Sam Hafertepe Jr. won heat races. Tim Shaffer won the dash. Dale Blaney won the B-Main.

Concord, NC-January 29, 2010-Following one of the most competitive seasons in World of Outlaws history, in which 16 drivers won feature events, with 25 leading laps feature racing competition, and just 19 points separating Donny Schatz and Jason Meyers at the top of the standings, with third-place Joey Saldana only 70 markers behind, another stout field of drivers will take to the road for the nine month, nearly 80-race campaign in 2010 beginning in just one week.

The 2010 season kicks off with the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals By University of Northwestern Ohio at Volusia Speedway Park, February 5-7, with a full night of racing on tap each and every night.

All the drivers that finished among the Top-10 in the series championship standings in 2009 will return, along with the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year.

Of the 17 drivers that are set to compete full-time in 2010, they account for 25 series championships and well over 900 career World of Outlaws A-Feature wins.

Three drivers will contend for the rookie crown this year, with Cody Darrah, Ben Gregg and Toni Lutar all taking to the road for full-time for the first time in their careers.

2010 World of Outlaws Drivers

Cody Darrah- One of three contenders for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award in 2010, Darrah will drive for Kasey Kahne Racing as a teammate to veteran Joey Saldana. Darrah, who hails from Red Lion, Penn., picked up his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win last season in the finale of the Summer Nationals at his home track of Williams Grove Speedway. Darrah has competed in the DIRTcar National each of the last three years, setting fast time twice including in his debut at the half-mile in 2007.

Craig Dollansky- Driving for Big Game Motorsports and owner Tod Quiring, the veteran will pilot a familiar No. 7 machine this season. Dollansky will be teamed again with veteran crew chief Mike Woodring this season, with the team being based out of Dollanskys shop in Princeton, Minn. The veteran driver won during the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia in 2008 and has won the overall title in the season opening event in two of the last three years.

Brian Ellenberger- The reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner returns for his second full season on the road. The native of Butler, Penn., scored his best career World of Outlaws finish last season with a third-place performance at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas. Ellenberger has competed in the DIRTcar Nationals seven times in his career including each of the last two years in the World of Outlaws portion of the event.

Ben Gregg- Will contend for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award driving the No. 2B machine. Born and raised in Ohio in the wings of Eldora Speedway, he moved to Arizona in 1995 and has been racing in the Southwest for the last seven seasons. He will have veteran crew chief Kirk Dewease, the brother of longtime Pennsylvania standout Lance Dewease, turning the wrenches for him. Gregg competed in the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia in 2007 and 2008.

Sam Hafertepe Jr.- The native of Sunnyvale, Texas returns to full-time World of Outlaws competition in 2010. After changing chassis and engine suppliers toward the middle of last season, he had a very strong second half of the season and nearly won with the World of Outlaws at his home track of Lone Star Speedway, which his family owns and operates. He picked up his first career World of Outlaws Top-Five finish during the 2007 DIRTcar Nationals, coming home fifth after winning the dash to earn his first career pole position with the series

Jac Haudenschild- The 2009 inductee into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame returns for his third season behind the wheel of the No. R19 for the Carnahan Motorsports team. He will be teamed with veteran crew chief Leonard Lee again this season. The pair won five times in their first season together back in 2008. Haudenschild finished ninth in the opener of the DIRTcar Nationals last season and was third on the second night and has five career Top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws at Volusia.

Tim Kaeding- The two-time Silver Dollar Speedway track champion and 2000 King of California returns to the World of Outlaws tour aboard the familiar No. 83 for the Roth Motorsports team based out of California. Kaeding will be teamed with veteran crew chief Mike Cool with Sonny Kratzer and Todd Ventura overseeing the team. Kaeding and Cool won a number of races together in 2006 and early 2007. In his career in the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, Kaeding has eight Top-10 finishes dating back to 2005, including a win in 2007 with the All Star Circuit of Champions, with Cool turning the wrenches.

Chad Kemenah- The 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year returns to full-time competition this season, after beginning last year on the road, before the team he was driving for ceased operations. He was victorious last season in the final World of Outlaws event ever held at the famed Manzanita Speedway. Kemenah won the season opener of the 2006 DIRTcar Nationals and has competed in the event for each of the last five years.

Kraig Kinser-Returns this year to Steve Kinser Racing to pilot the No. 11K. Will have rookie crew chief Mike Kuemper turning the wrenches along with his sister Stevie. The third generation driver was the 2004 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year driving for his fathers team and also won the 2005 Knoxville Nationals in the No. 11K machine. He finished fourth in the opener of the DIRTcar Nationals last season and was sixth in the finale.

Steve Kinser-Will be chasing his record 21st World of Outlaws title this season driving for Tony Stewart Racing as a teammate to four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz. Kinser, who had surgery in the off-season to fix a bulging disc, is back to 100 percent as he looks to add to his amazing 552 career A-Feature wins with the series. In the DIRTcar Nationals, Kinser has one win with the World of Outlaws in 2005 and four overall victories over the years.

Danny Lasoski- Is back with the Parsons Motorsports Team again this season after winning five times in his first year with the team in 2009 to finish sixth in points. He is one of three former champions competing full-time with the World of Outlaws in 2010. Lasoski won for the first time with the World of Outlaws in the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia in 2008 and is the winningest sprint car driver in the event with 17 overall triumphs dating back to 1988.

Toni Lutar-Will be the first Canadian driver to take to the road with the World of Outlaws in quite some time. Hailing from British Columbia, he will have the longest tow to Florida to kick off the season. Lutar will be one of three contenders for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award. He will be making his debut in the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

Jason Meyers- After coming up just 19 points short of winning the title last year, the native of Clovis, California, returns with his entire crew and team intact from last year. Meyers won a career-best 10 times overall with the World of Outlaws last year and led the series in Top-10 finishes and was one of just three drivers to lead at least 300 laps of feature racing competition. He won for the first time with the World of Outlaws in the DIRTcar Nationals in 2008 and finished in the Top-10 in each of the last six events for the series at the half-mile.

Joey Saldana-The second generation driver won a career-best 20 A-Feature events and 21 times overall with the World of Outlaws last year en route to finishing third in points. Saldana will have Willie Kahne as his crew chief again in 2010. The pair reunited last year after working together in 2006, which was Saldanas first year with Kasey Kahne Racing. They have won 27 races together and have finished third in points in each of their two seasons together. Saldana was victorious on the second night of the DIRTcar Nationals last year to earn his second World of Outlaws win in the event. He has eight overall triumphs at Volusia Speedway Park in his career.

Donny Schatz-Four-time and defending series champion will be back in the No. 15 machine for Tony Stewart Racing with longtime crew chief Ricky Warner turning the wrenches. He will be teamed with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser this year for TSR. Schatz won his 100th career World of Outlaws A-Feature event last season in his home state of North Dakota and is just seven wins away from being tied for the fourth spot on the all-time win list. He won twice with the World of Outlaws last season during the DIRTcar Nationals along with picking up a pair of wins with the All Star Circuit of Champions to bring his career win total to eight at the half-mile.

Jason Sides- The native of Bartlett, Tennessee won twice last season and picked up a career high number of Top-Five and Top-10 finishes and wound up a career-best fifth in points. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year will pilot his familiar No. 7S machine again in 2010. Sides opened last season with a couple of runner-up finishes in the DIRTcar Nationals including a thriller on opening night which saw him and Joey Saldana battle for the win. His second-place performance on the second night of the season found him tied for the series point lead for the first time in his career. He has finished seventh or better in three of his last four starts at Volusia with the World of Outlaws.

Lucas Wolfe- The 2008 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner returns for his third consecutive season on the road with the World of Outlaws. The second generation driver will have his father Randy, the reigning World of Outlaws Crew Chief of the Year, turning the wrenches for him again in 2010. The native of Mechanicsburg, Penn, who finished a career-best 10th in points, last year, has opened each of the last three seasons in the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia.

A full week of Sprint Car racing during the DIRTcar Nationals By UNOH kicks off on Feb. 2 with a test session, followed by two nights under the All Star Circuit Champions banner (Feb. 3-4) before the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes center stage Friday through Sunday (Feb. 5-7).

Defending Champions Donny Schatz and Levi Jones Joined by Steve Kinser and Bryan Clauson

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 29, 2010) – Coming off consecutive World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series championships and two United States Auto Club (USAC) titles in three seasons, Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) has put the pieces in place to keep its title run rolling in 2010 by realigning its driver brigade to include some of the most decorated drivers in short track racing.

Four-time and reigning WoO champion Donny Schatz, driver of TSR’s No. 15 Armor All/STP/J&J machine, will vie for his fifth consecutive crown and will team with Sprint Car icon Steve Kinser, who will chase his 21st WoO championship behind the wheel of TSR’s No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider Maxim.

Meanwhile, three-time USAC National Sprint Car champion Levi Jones will defend his title in TSR’s No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Armor All/Chevy entry. Jones will also chase his first USAC Silver Crown championship driving the No. 10 Bass Pro Shops/Armor All/Chevy machine, where he will be teamed with newcomer Bryan Clauson, who will pilot TSR’s No. 22 Bass Pro Shops/Armor All/Chevy in the Silver Crown division.

“We’ve put together a strong driver lineup for 2010,” said Tony Stewart, two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and TSR team owner. “We started our short track program with the goal of building a championship team. In the years since, it’s expanded to multiple titles and now our focus is maintaining that level of consistency. With four straight championships, Donny Schatz has shown that he’ll go down as one of the all-time bests in the winged Sprint car ranks, and to have him team up with 20-time champion Steve Kinser gives TSR a pretty stout 1-2 punch heading into the season. Our goal is to have them racing each other for the World of Outlaws championship this year.

“On the USAC side, our program has changed its focus, slightly. But in the end, we still have our sights set on winning championships. Levi and his crew did a great job last year to win another USAC Sprint Car championship, and I know they’re excited about trying to get another one. The Silver Crown division is one that we haven’t won outright as an organization, but we feel like Levi and Bryan Clauson give us a tremendous chance this year.”

Schatz will again pilot the TSR No. 15 car in the rugged WoO tour, which is scheduled to offer 80 nights of racing in 2010. He recently concluded a three-week racing tour in Australia, where he won three races, including his eighth $50,000 Scott Darley Memorial at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway near Sydney, and his third consecutive World Series Sprintcars Australian Open event at Archerfield Speedway near Brisbane. The Armor All crew will continue to include crew chief Rick Warner and crewman Shane Bowers, both of whom have been with Schatz for all four WoO titles. Steve Swenson, who has been with TSR since 2006, will join the No. 15 crew in 2010.

“I’m ready to get going and glad to be back doing what we love to do, and that’s being in the seat,” said Schatz, who won 12 WoO features in 2009 and his fourth consecutive Knoxville (Iowa) Nationals championship. “There are a lot of new things this year, including having Steve Kinser as my teammate. What else could you ask for? He’s the king, and to have him under the Tony Stewart Racing banner is pretty cool.

“We’re still going to have to beat on each other on the track and race each other, but now we have a closer affiliation. He is the premier driver in our sport and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

Kinser, who will be starting his 31st WoO campaign, brings not only his signature No. 11, but also the core of his crew, including longtime crew chief Scott Gerkin and crewman Gary DuBois. Travis LoGrande will serve as a third crewman on the TSR Bass Pro Shops entry. The team begins the chase for Kinser’s 553rd WoO victory and, ultimately, his 21st championship, when the Outlaws open their 2010 campaign Feb. 5 at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.

“I’m happy to be at Tony Stewart Racing and I’m looking forward to getting out there and start racing,” said Kinser, who hails from Bloomington, Ind., located just 35 miles from Stewart’s home in Columbus, Ind. “Our sport, like everything, is tough right now. So to have the opportunity to go and drive for Tony is really a great thing. We’re excited to be associated with people from Bass Pro Shops and J.D. Byrider, and I’m sure Donny and I will be pushing one another to be the best. Over the years, we’ve gotten along great, and I think Ricky (Warner) and Scott (Gerkin) will work really well together. I honestly think it’s going to be good for all of us.”

For Jones, the 2010 season is an opportunity to continue his success behind the wheel of a non-winged Sprint Car and buck his trend of only winning championships in odd years. He won his first crown in 2005, scored his second driving the TSR No. 20 Chevy in 2007, and claimed his third last season, also driving for TSR. If Jones can win a fourth USAC Sprint Car Series title this year, he will tie the record set by Steve Butler in 1990.

The USAC Sprint Car season begins Feb. 8-10 at East Bay Raceway in Gibsonton, Fla.

“I’m really looking forward to racing for a fourth championship as part of Tony Stewart Racing,” Jones said. “Entering this season, we’re probably more prepared than we ever have been as a team. The last time we started the season at East Bay Raceway, we came away with a win. We’re hoping to make that a tradition. I’d also really like to break our cycle of only winning championships in odd-numbered years. If we’re able to tie the record for number of Sprint Car titles this year, it would really mean a lot to do so as part of Tony Stewart Racing.”

Jones’ teammate for 2010, Clauson, is expected to make TSR a threat for the USAC Silver Crown Series title this year. Clauson, who hails from Noblesville, Ind., wrapped up the 2009 season with a victory in the prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway on Thanksgiving night. He brings with him several years of experience in all three USAC national racing series and in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. In addition to having 23 USAC victories on his resume, Clauson also had an outstanding 2009, having won the USAC Indiana Midget Week title, the Belleville (Kan.) Midget Nationals and the Glenn Howard Memorial at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway.

“It’s an honor to join Tony Stewart Racing,” said Clauson, who began his racing career as a 5-year-old in Quarter Midgets. “Obviously, what they’ve been able to accomplish in the last few years is unbelievable, which makes this an ideal situation heading into my first full-time run in the Silver Crown series. It was a big deal for me, personally, to get this opportunity and race with a team capable of winning a championship. I’m looking forward to working with everyone at TSR. Our goal is to win some races and have a lot of fun this season.”

CONCORD, N.C. Jan. 29, 2010 Double-file restarts and a new race format that guarantees you ll see your favorite driver in at least one heat and main every night are among the fan-friendly changes World of Outlaws officials will unveil Feb. 5 at the Florida DIRTcar Nationals By University of Northwestern Ohio at Volusia Speedway Park.

Following meetings with team owners last November during the World Finals, and comments from fans over the past several years, a new race format and procedures have been adopted to pump even more excitement into The Greatest Show on Dirt. These changes will be under close watch by series officials, who will determine if any adjustments are needed.

The rivalry developing between Donny Schatz and Jason Meyers, the threat that Joey Saldana poses on the heels of his 20-win season and the news that Steve Kinser will be driving for Tony Stewart has anticipation at an all-time high for the 2010 season. And now, the World of Outlaws will become the only major venue in all of open-wheel racing where fans can see double-file restarts from the beginning of the night until the final checkered flag, with the leader being given lane choice. The familiar front-stretch cone will be left in the trailer as the leader will dictate each restart coming out of Turn 4.

In addition to double-file restarts which the series pioneered in the 70s and the elimination of the non-qualifiers race in favor of expanding the number of heat races should the car count dictate, the Dash will also get a facelift. The top two finishers from each heat race, in addition to the two fastest qualifiers who transfer through their heat, will advance to the Dash, which could see as many as 12 starters in a 5-heat format. A qualifying time based inversion of 4, 6 or 8 will determine the Dash lineup, and all drivers in the inversion will be interviewed in front of the crowd. The Dash finish will then set the lineup for the A-main.

Every year we listen to the fans and consider ways to make World of Outlaws events even more exciting, said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. There s nothing more breathtaking than the start of a World of Outlaws race. Now, in adopting double-file restarts, every wave of the green flag throughout every race will be an incredible sight as a full field thunders out of Turn 4 and into the first corners side-by-side. World of Outlaws drivers are some of the most skilled racers in motorsports, and this will no doubt showcase their talent.

In an effort to further enhance fans experience, the allotted time in the work area has been reduced to one minute after a damaged car arrives, and under an open red flag only two crew members will be permitted to attend to the car. In time trials, all cars will take two laps no matter how many cars have signed in to race, unless weather is a factor.

One thing that has not changed from the first World of Outlaws race in 1978 is the post-race open pits. Even though at every fan at Volusia can sign in for a complimentary pit pass after purchasing a reserved or general admission ticket, the pits are remain open to everyone at the end of every World of Outlaws race to meet drivers for pictures and autographs.

A full week of Sprint Car action at the DIRTcar Nationals By UNOH kicks off on Feb. 2 with a test session, followed by two nights of racing under the All Star Circuit Champions banner (Feb. 3-4) before the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes center stage Friday through Sunday (Feb. 5-7).

Fans can now purchase tickets online by going to http://www.DIRTcarNationals.com, or by calling Volusia Speedway Park at 386-985-4402.

Race fans unable to make the annual trek south to Volusia need not worry. All 12 nights (Feb. 2nd-13th) will air LIVE on www.dirtvision.com beginning approximately at 7 p.m. each night.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is brought to fans across the country by many important sponsors and partners, including: Armor All (Official Car Care Products), Goodyear Tires (Official Tire), SuperClean (Official Cleaner-Degreaser), VP Racing (Official Racing Fuel); in addition to contingency sponsors, Jake s Custom Golf Carts, KSE Race Products, Penske Shocks, Racing Electronics, S&S Volvo; Engine Builder’s Challenge participants Don Ott Racing Engines, Kistler Engines, Shaver Specialties and Speedway Engines; and Chassis Builder s Challenge participants J&J Auto Racing, Maxim Racing and XXX Race Company.

Kilgore TX (1/23/10) by DarinShort.com. The long-awaited reopening of Lone Star Speedway (LSS) took place a year ago, after new owners Lisa and Sam Hafertepe gave the facility a much needed and massive makeover. Fans were treated to several great events throughout the season at the ultra-fast ½ mile high-banked clay oval.

2010 will be no different, as right out of the gate on Friday March 12th the return of the “Fastest Show on Dirt” will make its way back to LSS when the World of Outlaws Sprint Series stages its only scheduled visit of the season. Names of the likes of Steve and Kraig Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers and son of LSS track owners Sam Hafertepe Jr., amongst many others, will take part in a full night of qualifying, heats, dash and feature race competition. This date was recently announced and support division(s) will be listed on the track website when that news becomes available.

Back for the first time in several years, the World of Outlaws Late Models make a triumphant return to LSS two weeks later on Saturday March 27th. Drivers such as 2009 series champion “Kid Rocket” Josh Richards, Steve Francis, Darrell Lanigan, Tim Fuller and Rick Eckert will all compete in a one night show, plus a host of others. Joining the WoO late models will be the only 2010 appearance of the exciting Winged Modifieds.

Next up, on Friday April 9th, the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Dirt Series tackles LSS with a full field of top-flight sprint cars. Fans can expect drivers such as Shane Stewart, Gary Wright, Jason Johnson and Travis Rilat. Joining the sprint cars will be the modifieds, limited modifieds and factory stocks; rounding out what will certainly be a huge night of racing.

Then, on Sunday May 30th, the stars and cars of the SUPR Late Model Series will make their return for another night of high-speed action during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The modifieds, limited modifieds and factory stocks will also be on hand.

Saturday June 26th will mark the first ever visit of the Southern Thunder Sprints to Lone Star Speedway. Once again, fans will enjoy a diverse racing program with the modifieds, limited modifieds and factory stocks all taking part in the show.

Kicking off the Independence Day holiday weekend Friday July 2nd, will mark the second of three appearances for the SUPR Late Model Series. Another full slate of racing can be expected, as the modifieds, limited modifieds and factory stocks will race that evening.

Then the track will take a few weeks off during the “dog days of summer” only to return Saturday September 11th with an exciting double-header for the ASCS Lone Star Sprint Cars and the final SUPR Late Model Series event at LSS in 2010.

After an enormous success in 2009 at LSS, the Monster Truck Nationals will put on another high-flying, crunch-filled program on Saturday September 18th. You certainly won’t want to miss their return.

Wrapping up the 2010 racing calendar will be an inaugural 2-day event for the USMTS Southern Series for Modifieds on Friday and Saturday October 29th-30th. Joining them both nights will be the limited modifieds.

A pair of practice dates is also set on March 7th, from 3-8pm; and March 26th from 6-10pm.

More race dates are still in negotiation at this point, so make sure to visit www.LoneStarSpeedway.com for future updates. The 2010 schedule is also available for download and print on the track website. Also, you can find the latest in LSS news on your local racing forums throughout the 2010 racing season.

From everyone at “The Fastest ½ Mile Dirt Track in Texas,” have a safe and enjoyable racing season; we are looking forward to providing you with great racing action at affordable prices all year long.
